Tazı Canyon Guide: When, How and What to Bring
Thursday, August 13, 2026 · 8 minutes' reading
Tazı Canyon is the most photographed spot in Köprülü Canyon National Park: reddish cliffs dropping hundreds of metres into a green valley. The view is real — but go without a plan and you will spend most of the day on the road.
Where is it?
In Manavgat district, roughly a two-hour drive from Alanya. The viewpoint is a flat 15-20 minute walk from the car park — not difficult, but it wants proper shoes.
Which tours go there?
Combo tours are the practical option: rafting + canyon programmes fit whitewater in Köprülü and the Tazı viewpoint into the same day. Driving yourself is possible — signage has improved — but the narrow village roads tire anyone not used to them.
Best time to go
April-June and September-October are the comfortable windows. In July-August midday is scorching, which is why early-departure tours have the edge. The path gets slippery after rain; pick a clear day.
What to wear and bring
Closed trainers, a hat, sunscreen and at least a litre of water — there is next to no shade at the viewpoint. If you are combining with rafting, pack a change of clothes; staying dry is not an option.
Photo spots
The main terrace gives the classic shot; crowds peak at noon. Before 10am is best for both light and space. Respect the barriers on the edge rocks — the wind can pick up suddenly.
With children?
The walk itself is fine for kids; the parts to watch are the unfenced sections at the viewpoint. Suitable for ages 6+ if you keep hands held. Pushchairs do not work on the path.
